Nomad Highlands
The Nomad Highlands are Enshrouded's dry highland region east of Revelwood, for levels 15 to 20 at 1.0, reworked in Thralls of Twilight (May 13, 2025), with Umber Hollow, the Pillars of Creation, tin, a Hollow Halls with two boss arenas and, since 1.0, three save points in its Shroud.
The Nomad Highlands are Enshrouded's third region, a dry, open highland east of Revelwood for characters of about level 15 to 20, with places like Umber Hollow and the Pillars of Creation, tin for bronze, a two-boss Hollow Halls and wide stretches of Shroud below. Keen remade the region in Thralls of Twilight on May 13, 2025: "the landscapes, especially in the Nomad Highlands and Kindlewastes, have been significantly reworked with more realistic terrain, new trees and vegetation, enhanced material textures", the update's highlights video says, with camps and ruins given "greater detail and storytelling". The levels are from Destructoid's 1.0 guide (Oct 17, 2026).

Where the Nomad Highlands are
In early access TheGamer described the Nomad Highlands as the central strip of the map, entered from Revelwood or the Low Meadows, with enemies up to level 22 and Flame level 4 needed to explore it (TheGamer, Feb 16, 2024); DualShockers called it "the savanna biome" (DualShockers, Jan 31, 2024). At 1.0 it sits between Revelwood (11 to 15) and the Kindlewastes (20 to 30) in the order of play. Its northern border is one of the two ways up to the Albaneve Summits (Keen, Nov 5, 2024). Keen once wrote "Nomad Steppes" for it (May 13, 2025); the achievements say Nomad Highlands. Keen's 1.0 press release uses it to sell the PS5 controller's haptics: "feeling a storm roll in over the Nomad Highlands" (Keen, Oct 14, 2026).
Places
- Umber Hollow, named in Keen's 2024 soundtrack, toward which the region's Shroud Roots extend (Keen, Feb 2, 2024; TheGamer).
- The Pillars of Creation, two great rock pillars. PC Gamer places a Flame Altar on top "for easy fast travel around southern Embervale": the northern pillar is easier to build on, because the Engine Chambers fill the southern one, which has copper mines nearby. Its southern foot, between two stretches of Shroud, is another of its picks (PC Gamer, Oct 20, 2026).
- Rattlebeak, named in TheGamer's early access guide.
- The Elixir Well, whose surroundings got "a major update" in Melodies of the Mire (Keen, Jun 5, 2024); its Shroud Roots are boss-guarded like every Elixir Well's.
- The Scavenger Outpost, a Nomad Highlands camp that holds a building block recipe (Keen, Jul 29, 2024).
The Shroud of the Nomad Highlands
Much of the region lies under The Shroud, and Thralls of Twilight changed it everywhere: "Denser clouds, deeper visibility, spooky, yet gorgeous God-rays blasting through the mist", Keen's video says, "and way more likely to get you eaten". Back to the Shroud had already raised the enemy density in "the Shroud areas below Nomad Highlands" (Keen, Jul 29, 2024).
The same update filled the Shroud with places worth the risk: "Brand-new Shroud Lairs", Summoning Nests, abandoned ruins and Gem Forges for the new weapon gems, Keen's video says. Thralls of Twilight added over 100 points of interest to shrouded zones across Embervale.
1.0 made the Nomad Highlands Shroud kinder: "Especially in the Nomad Highlands it is now easier to find the way through the shrouded regions and potentially more importantly, out of the Shroud again", and "3 new save points have been placed in the Nomad Highlands Shroud" (1.0 changelog). In early access TheGamer counted 2 open-world Shroud Roots and 4 in Elixir Wells here; "Nomad Highlands weeding" is the in-game checklist.
Enemies and resources
Scavenger camps, Fell creatures in the Shroud and wildlife are the main threats. Thralls of Twilight added night patrols on the roads with Scavenger hounds; 1.0 cut the patrols' damage to about 60%. In early access, tin came from the Mining Rift west of the Nomad Highlands spire; with Revelwood copper it makes bronze (TheGamer, Feb 25, 2024). The Collector's decay tool is crafted with Nomad Highlands materials (Keen, Jan 28, 2025). For rangers, the Nomad Highlands tier has one craftable ranged set and one craftable dagger set since 1.0, and the Sharpshooter set is now loot in Nomad Highlands chests (1.0 changelog). See Materials and Ores and Armor Sets.
Some of it waits for dark. Since Thralls of Twilight, "Enemy patrols now roam the dark", and there are "16 mysterious temples that only open during night", plus night-only plants, Keen's video says. Night Temples exist in every region (Keen).
The Nomad Highlands Hollow Halls
Keen's first update, on Mar 26, 2024, gave every region of the time a Hollow Halls, "one in each biome". The Nomad Highlands one has level 20 enemies, lies northwest of the region's fast travel point, and has two boss arenas with "the same bosses as in Revelwood", where the Hollow Cyclops waits (DualShockers, Mar 31, 2024). You need its Bone Key from the Collector, and Keen recommends going with friends. See Hollow Halls.
What changed at 1.0
The 1.0 changelog (Oct 14, 2026) lists, for the Nomad Highlands:
- the easier Shroud and its three save points;
- reworked biome transitions, "The most noticeable change can be found between Nomad Highlands and Kindlewastes";
- a refresh of terrain, plants and forest density in the Springlands, Revelwood, Blackmire and Nomad Highlands;
- the tumbleweeds removed: "May they rest in prickles. Don't worry, they will be back once we solve some glitches and performance issues."
After the Nomad Highlands the road leads southeast into the Kindlewastes (20 to 30), or north toward the Albaneve Summits later on. The Map and Regions page shows the full order.

RevelwoodRevelwood (Keen also writes "the Revelwoods") is Enshrouded's dark forest region north of the Springlands, for levels 11 to 15 at 1.0, with copper, the town of Willow Crush, the Revelwood Hollow Halls and its Hollow Cyclops, and the passage to the Blackmire.
-
KindlewastesThe Kindlewastes are Enshrouded's sun-scorched desert, southeast of the Nomad Highlands, for characters of about level 20 to 30 at 1.0. They hold the town of Brittlebush, the settlement of Shorewatch, Sun Temples, the Fell Monstrosity at the region's Elixir Well and the Fell Sicklescythe in the Haunted Sun Temple. -
Albaneve SummitsThe Albaneve Summits are Enshrouded's frozen mountain region in the north of Embervale, added on Nov 5, 2024 in Souls of the Frozen Frontier, for characters of about level 30 to 40 at 1.0. Deadly cold, deep snow, around 100 points of interest and the Fell Dragon Youngling wait there, and 1.0 opened a Hollow Halls in the mountains. -
The ShroudThe Shroud is the corrupting fog over Embervale's lowlands in Enshrouded. Flameborn can survive in it only while a timer lasts, and red Shroud kills outright until your Flame level is high enough. It holds the Fell, rare materials and the Shroud Roots that give skill points. -
Materials and OresEnshrouded's materials come in tiers that follow its regions: copper in the Revelwood, tin and then iron around the Nomad Highlands and Kindlewastes, with rarer resources in the Shroud, the Hollow Halls and the later regions. Every material shows its item level and a hint where to find it, and 1.0 raised mining yields and made stone easier to mine. -
Armor SetsArmor in Enshrouded comes in warrior, ranger and mage sets for each tier of the world: crafted sets are always rare quality, looted ones range from common to legendary, and all of them are upgraded with runes at the class survivor to unlock perks. Since 1.0 each Flame upgrade unlocks the next tier's craftable sets, armor can cut damage by up to 80%, and any piece can be tinted or hidden behind vanity.
