Albaneve Summits

The Albaneve Summits are Enshrouded's frozen mountain region in the north of Embervale, added on Nov 5, 2024 in Souls of the Frozen Frontier, for characters of about level 30 to 40 at 1.0. Deadly cold, deep snow, around 100 points of interest and the Fell Dragon Youngling wait there, and 1.0 opened a Hollow Halls in the mountains.

The Albaneve Summits are the snow and mountain region of Enshrouded, added on Nov 5, 2024 in Update 4, Souls of the Frozen Frontier, and meant for characters of about level 30 to 40 at 1.0 (Destructoid, Oct 17, 2026). Keen describes "a vast and treacherous mountain biome expanding the north of Embervale", reached from the northern borders of the Nomad Highlands and Kindlewastes, with "around 100 new points of interest" (Keen, Nov 5, 2024). In the update's highlights video the narrator calls it "the highest peak on the map", with new settlements that "tell the story of the ancient civilization that once lived here" and new enemies and fauna, over shots of snowfields and peaks. The region's boss is the Fell Dragon Youngling.

Getting there

The Summits rise above the north of the Nomad Highlands and the Kindlewastes, and Keen's update post says they are reached from those regions' northern borders (Keen, Nov 5, 2024). Destructoid's 1.0 guide puts them northeast of the desert, with Veilwater Basin to their west (Destructoid, Oct 17, 2026). When the region arrived, Keen wrote that its enemies "start at level 28" and raised the level cap to 35 (Keen, Nov 5, 2024); the cap is 50 at 1.0. See Map and Regions for the full order of regions.

Cold and how to survive it

The Albaneve Summits are the one region where the weather itself can kill you. Keen lists icy lakes, frozen rivers, deep snow that slows you down, slippery ice, updrafts for gliding, and "extreme coldness" that is lethal without warm clothing, warming food or a torch (Keen, Nov 5, 2024). Keen's support pages describe cold as one of the survival states, beside wet and exposed (Keen support). Cook warming dishes before the climb (Food and Cooking) and pick armor for the climate (Armor Sets). The same update brought Enshrouded's dynamic weather, so snowstorms come and go during the day.

Souls of the Frozen Frontier also raised the maximum level to 35, let the Flame be upgraded twice "to help you venture into deadly shroud zones", reworked the glider and added ice as a terrain block, as the highlights video says over clips of gliding and sliding on ice. The grappling hook could from then on pull flying enemies in or launch you at larger foes, once unlocked in the skill tree (Glider, Grappling Hook and Fast Travel).

Places

  • Settlements of the Ancients: the region's ruins and towns are tied to "the ancient civilization that once lived here" (Keen's highlights video, Nov 5, 2024); see Story and Lore.
  • A new Elixir Well and 6 Shroud Root locations came with the region (Keen, Nov 5, 2024).
  • The Elixir Production Site, southwest of the region's Ancient Spire, on the route toward Veilwater Basin (Game Rant, Nov 13, 2025).
  • The Event Honor Hall, which holds the names of the 2024 Halloween Building Contest winners (Keen, Jan 28, 2025).
  • Cyclops caves and Shroud areas home to the Fell Sporehead (Keen, Feb 13, 2025; Keen, Dec 11, 2024).

Wildlife and enemies

The Frozen Frontier update brought new Scavengers, a new Cyclops and new animals with the Summits. The highlights video names the Flamethrower Scavenger and the whip-wielding Champion, who buffs his allies; a Cyclops that "roams caves", with a corrupted version in the Shroud; a fogger "spore head mage"; and the Mountain Yak, Snow Leopard and Mountain Goat. Several of these animals can be tamed for a farm, a feature added in the same update (Farming, Fishing and Animals). The factions are on Enemies and Factions.

The dragon

Keen's update post warned of "a powerful creature rumored to haunt the highest peaks" (Keen, Nov 5, 2024): the Fell Dragon Youngling, whose Steam achievement reads "King of the mountain: Defeat the dragon" (Steam). In "Things we're fixing for 1.0" (Aug 19, 2026) Keen admits it "has long been the last boss in the game" and for many "an impassable obstacle", and lists fixes for resets, a deeper arena and a new phase on the ground, over footage of the dragon circling its snowy peak. The full fight is on Fell Dragon Youngling.

The Dragons' Last Breath

A community-chosen quest from Thralls of Twilight, "The Dragons' Last Breath", begins at "the remains of dragons resting in the Albaneve Mountains" (Keen Games press release, May 13, 2025).

Albaneve Summits Hollow Halls (1.0)

Version 1.0 (Oct 15, 2026) opened a new Hollow Halls dungeon in the Albaneve Summits, one of two new Halls with the one in Veilwater Basin. The 1.0 Update Highlights say each "has its own look and rewards with plenty standing between you and the loot". Keen has not named its boss or its level, as of Oct 21, 2026. 1.0 also moved the sun's course so that areas behind the mountains are no longer shaded so long at sunset (Keen, Oct 14, 2026).
