Hollow Halls

The Hollow Halls are Enshrouded's dungeons, one per region: four arrived on Mar 26, 2024 (Springlands, Revelwood, Nomad Highlands, Kindlewastes) and 1.0 added two more in the Albaneve Summits and Veilwater Basin. They are full of the undead Hollow, opened with Bone Keys crafted by the Collector, and end in class chests paid for with Ectoplasm.

The Hollow Halls are the dungeons of Enshrouded: large underground areas, one in each region, filled with the undead Hollow and ending in chests of class gear. Keen added the first 4 on Mar 26, 2024 in Update 1, one each in the Springlands, Revelwood, Nomad Highlands and Kindlewastes, and 1.0 opened two more in the Albaneve Summits and Veilwater Basin on Oct 15, 2026 (Keen, Oct 14, 2026). Keen's Hollow Halls highlights introduce them as "a series of unique massive dungeons, one in each biome", made because the community asked for "more challenging combat exploration", with an expanded enemy faction, exclusive legendary rewards, a mysterious crafting station and a quest that leads to "a brand new spooky NPC". Each Hall is opened with its own Bone Key, crafted by the Collector you rescue in the first one.

How to start the Hollow Halls

Keen's Update 1 post says to talk to the Alchemist to begin the Hollow Halls, and that each biome has a Hall "with enemies and challenges corresponding to the level of the biome" (Keen, Mar 26, 2024). The first Hall, in the Springlands, holds the Collector, Alden Crowley; once rescued, he crafts the Bone Key that each later Hall needs (DualShockers, Mar 31, 2024). The same update added a new crafting station, the Ectoplasm Press (Crafting Stations). Survivors are on Survivors.

Each Hall

Hall Region level Notes
Springlands Enemies about level 10 (early access) Southwest of the Springlands fast travel point; the Collector is rescued here
Revelwood Enemies up to level 15 (early access) Ends with the Hollow Cyclops
Nomad Highlands Enemies about level 20 (early access) Northwest of its fast travel point; two boss arenas with the same bosses as Revelwood's
Kindlewastes Enemies about level 25 (early access) Northeast of its fast travel point; the hardest of the first four and the first with Shroud zones inside
Albaneve Summits Not published New at 1.0
Veilwater Basin Not published New at 1.0; "bring your snorkel" (Keen)

The early access levels come from DualShockers (Mar 31, 2024) and TheGamer (Mar 30, 2024); 1.0 changed enemy levels across Embervale, and Keen has not published levels or bosses for the two new Halls, as of Oct 21, 2026.

The Hollow Cyclops, at the end of the Revelwood Hall, spawns skeletons, swings wide, casts a plunging spell and makes a delayed green ground smash, and tends to focus one target; TheGamer suggested level 17 to 18 with a partner (TheGamer, Mar 30, 2024). It drops its head and Giant Bones, used for the Collector's Ectoplasm Press and later keys (Game Rant, Apr 21, 2024). The Kindlewastes Hall ends with a boss the press guides do not name. More on Bosses.

The two new Halls at 1.0

Version 1.0 added Hollow Halls in the Albaneve Summits and Veilwater Basin. The 1.0 Update Highlights say "Two Hollow Halls are opening in the Albaneve Summits and Veilwater Basin. Each has its own look and rewards with plenty standing between you and the loot", and advise your best gear and a snorkel for Veilwater, over shots of an ornate hall of stained glass and a purple-lit vaulted corridor. Keen's changelog: "Two new Hollow Halls have opened their gates, one in the Albaneve Summits and one in Veilwater Basin - bring your snorkel" (Keen, Oct 14, 2026).

The Hollow

The Hollow Halls brought "a new enemy faction" with them (Keen Games press release, Mar 26, 2024). Keen's notes name summoned Hollow Hounds, Hollow Elites and Hollow melee fighters (Keen, Mar 27, 2024), and TheGamer notes skeletons that rise again from bone piles (TheGamer, Mar 30, 2024). Ectoplasm drops from Hollow enemies and hounds (Keen, Oct 14, 2026). See Enemies and Factions.

Ectoplasm, chests and weapons

The end rooms hold class chests for warrior, ranger and mage gear, opened with Ectoplasm; 1.0 made opening them 25% cheaper and reworked the Hollow Halls weapons to work well against the Hollow (Keen, Oct 14, 2026).

The Halls also have their own weapon type. In Keen's 2024 recap of its Reddit AMA, the answer to a request for more loot is that "the Hollow Halls do actually feature a new and unique type of weapon that we call sacred", with longer range "to better handle big groups of enemies kind of like the ones you'd find in Hollow Halls". See Weapons.

Solo or in a group

Keen's advice when the Halls arrived: "It is possible to run these as a solo player, but it might be a very challenging experience" (Keen, Mar 26, 2024). Enemy levels in Enshrouded scale with group size (Keen, Feb 9, 2024), and group play raises the chance of bonus loot. See Multiplayer and Co-op.

Long runs can be split up since Wake of the Water (Nov 10, 2025). Its highlights video lists as the first quality-of-life change that "players can now leave during Hollow Hall runs and continue at the last visited safe point at a later time".

Frequently asked questions

How many Hollow Halls are in Enshrouded? Enshrouded 1.0 has six Hollow Halls: four added on Mar 26, 2024 in the Springlands, Revelwood, Nomad Highlands and Kindlewastes, and two added at 1.0 on Oct 15, 2026 in the Albaneve Summits and Veilwater Basin.

How do I get a Bone Key in Enshrouded? Rescue the Collector, Alden Crowley, in the Springlands Hollow Halls; he then crafts the Bone Key for each later Hall. Keen's Update 1 post says the Hollow Halls start by talking to the Alchemist.

Can you do the Hollow Halls solo in Enshrouded? Yes, but Keen warns that running the Hollow Halls solo "might be a very challenging experience". Since Nov 10, 2025 you can leave a run and continue later from the last save point.

What is Ectoplasm used for in Enshrouded? Ectoplasm opens the class chests at the end of the Hollow Halls and is a crafting material. It drops from Hollow enemies and hounds, and 1.0 made the chests 25% cheaper to open.

What is the boss of the Revelwood Hollow Halls? The Revelwood Hollow Halls in Enshrouded ends with the Hollow Cyclops, which summons skeletons and smashes the ground. It drops Giant Bones used for the Ectoplasm Press and later keys.
