Veilwater Basin

Veilwater Basin is Enshrouded's tropical lake and river region between the Albaneve Summits and the Blackmire, added in Wake of the Water on Nov 10, 2025 for characters of about level 35 to 45 at 1.0. It is home of the lizard-like Drak and their leader Hydrak'Dal, and since 1.0 its northern gates lead to Cinder's Cradle.

Veilwater Basin is the water region of Enshrouded: "a dense tropical forest sprawls between large lakes and rivers, covering ancient ruins and dark secrets", located "between the Albaneve Summits and the Blackmire" (Keen, Nov 10, 2025). It arrived with Update 7, Wake of the Water, on Nov 10, 2025, and suits characters of about level 35 to 45 at 1.0 (Destructoid, Oct 17, 2026). Keen's highlights video calls it "a new high-level area as beautiful as it is dangerous", with jungles, lakes, waterways and long-lost ruins and temples, many held by the Drak, "a reptilian species who fought humanity for control of the region for ages" and who, unlike you, "can actually fight underwater". Since 1.0 the gates past the basin lead north to Cinder's Cradle.

How to get to Veilwater Basin

Keen's Wake of the Water post says the basin is reached "through the Blackmire region and through the Albaneve Summits" (Keen, Nov 10, 2025). Game Rant's route guide names the Passage to Veilwater Basin and the Elixir Production Site, southwest of the Albaneve Ancient Spire, on the way in from the mountains (Game Rant, Nov 13, 2025). Destructoid's 1.0 guide places the basin west of the mountains (Destructoid, Oct 17, 2026). A glider and the grappling hook help across its gorges (Glider, Grappling Hook and Fast Travel).

The region came a few weeks late. In Keen's Dev Update of Oct 23, 2025, senior game designer Christoph explains that the team "tried as hard as we could" to hold the October deadline, but "water always finds a way", so Wake of the Water moved to Nov 10. It was the last new region of early access, and Antony Christoulakis called it the endgame of that time, with "ten further levels" (PCGamesN, Nov 10, 2025); the update raised the level cap from 35 to 45.

Water and diving

Veilwater Basin came with Enshrouded's simulated water. The highlights video says "the water in Enshrouded is simulated in real time": you can bring it into your builds, use it to improve crafting, and drain or fill lakes, puddles and barrels, within limits on how much the game can simulate. Keen called dynamic voxel water "no mean feat for a voxel-based adventure game" (Keen Games press release, Jun 25, 2026). Swimming and diving came with it; diving uses oxygen, and Flame Altars keep oxygen bubbles around them (Keen, Nov 10, 2025).

At left another dark-armored figure holds out a blade glowing gold. Tall seaweed sways below and the surface ripples above. The Enshrouded logo is at bottom left.

The Drak and Hydrak'Dal

The Drak are "a lizard-like faction of enemies", "as deadly in the water as they are on land" (Keen Games press release, Nov 10, 2025). PCGamesN describes big swords and long leaps, and a Drak Heavy two to three times the player's height that covers the floor in obsidian spikes (PCGamesN, Nov 10, 2025). Keen's notes also name a Drak Wizard and a ranged Drak (Keen, Dec 16, 2025). Their leader Hydrak'Dal is a boss tied to the quest "Emerald Shores And Sanguine Seas" (Keen, Nov 25, 2025), and 1.0's quest "Vengeance" targets a Drak'Dal leader (Keen, Oct 14, 2026). Drak lore items need a potion that translates their language (PCGamesN, Nov 10, 2025). More on Enemies and Factions and Bosses.

Places

Game Rant lists bamboo, crab meat, ginger, shells and tropical wood among the basin's resources (Game Rant, Nov 13, 2025).

The fishing survivor

Fishing came to Enshrouded with this region, and a survivor "who specializes in fishing" lives in Veilwater Basin, offering better rods and bait (Keen, Nov 10, 2025); Keen's official text does not name this survivor. For 1.0 Keen reworked fishing: in "Things we're fixing for 1.0" (Aug 19, 2026) the narrator says bait now attracts fish from the biome its resources came from, improved bait guarantees fish of its tier, and special spots raise the chance of treasure or of a bite. See Farming, Fishing and Animals and Survivors.

Veilwater Basin Hollow Halls (1.0)

Version 1.0 (Oct 15, 2026) opened a Hollow Halls dungeon in Veilwater Basin. The 1.0 Update Highlights advise "Bring your best gear for Veilwater. We would also recommend a snorkel", and Keen's changelog repeats "bring your snorkel" (Keen, Oct 14, 2026). Its boss and level are not named in Keen's posts, as of Oct 21, 2026.

The gate to Cinder's Cradle

At 1.0 the basin stopped being the end of the map. "Up in the north, beyond the now open gates past the Veilwater Basin a completely new area can be explored, the Cinder's Cradle" (Keen, Oct 14, 2026). The 1.0 Update Highlights open with "The gates are finally opening" and place Cinder's Cradle "north of Veilwater Basin, beyond the gates". A new Flame level is needed before you can go in (Flame Altar and Flame Levels).
