Legendary Weapons

In Enshrouded a legendary weapon is any weapon of the top rarity: it starts with the same base stats as a common copy but has the most upgrade levels and perks, and its last upgrades cost legendary runes. Legendaries come from chests (golden and Shroud chests most often), enemies, bosses and the Hollow Halls; lore weapons, the named uniques, can be crafted again at every tier once found.

In Enshrouded a legendary weapon is a weapon of the highest rarity, and what makes it legendary is how far it can grow, not how hard it hits when you find it. Keen Games' community manager Andrew put it plainly in the Forging the Path gear video of Apr 21, 2026: a common drop "doesn't start off worse than a legendary item of the same type. The legendary just has more room to grow with more potential upgrades." Keen's changelog says the same for every item: quality "does not affect the base stats of the item, it only determines how many upgrade levels the item offers" (Keen, Apr 21, 2026). So a legendary weapon is the best long-term home for your runes, and the named lore weapons, which can be crafted again at every tier, are the reliable way to get the weapon you want. Every weapon type is on Weapons.

What legendary means

Rarity in Enshrouded runs from common to legendary, and since Update 8 it decides how many upgrade levels and perks an item has rather than its starting numbers (Keen, Apr 21, 2026). Self-crafted equipment is always of rare quality, while gear "up to legendary can be found in the world". That makes a found legendary worth more than its first stats suggest: each upgrade adds damage and opens a perk, and a legendary has the most of both. The skill tree, perks and runes all add to a weapon's base damage, which is the same for weapons of one kind at one item level whatever their name, as AllThingsHow's 1.0 weapon tables put it on Oct 24, 2026 (AllThingsHow).

Enemy weapons became a legendary source in Update 7. In Keen's Dev Update video of Oct 23, 2025, senior game designer Kristoff says weapons such as the Fell Thunderbrute greatsword can now be looted from defeated foes, and that "enemy weapon drops will now scale with enemy level and range in rarity from common all the way up to legendary". The first patch after it found that the legendary rate for enemy weapons was "almost ⅓ of enemy loot, which was ridiculously overtuned", cut it, and removed the chance of legendary items from the first tutorial cave (Keen, Nov 13, 2025).

Where legendary weapons come from

Chests are the main source. Wake of the Water reworked every chest's drops so that the chance for legendary weapons "has been significantly increased in silver and golden chests, respectively, with even higher chances in the Shroud variations for each chest" (Keen, Nov 10, 2025). 1.0 added +5% legendary chance to all chests, let wooden chests hold a weapon or armor piece on the level of a silver chest, removed common loot from silver chests, and put more chests in the Springlands and Revelwood so new players meet more weapons. Chests remember being looted, so reloading does not reroll them, though their contents come back in time. The Shroud chests sit in The Shroud, so bring time for it.

In the 1.0 endgame the richest chests sit behind Spark doors. 04AM's farm route of Oct 18, 2026, on the floating islands of Cinder's Cradle, calls "Spark treasure rooms" the best way "to reliably secure max level legendaries", often two from one chest. One golden chest needs "10 sparks" brought to its door, the sparks found at Flame Shrines; 04AM's trick is to place a Flame Altar beside it, which removes the barrier, then return when the chest respawns, which it says "happens after each 30 to 60 minutes". These are one creator's observations, not Keen's numbers; the route starts from the Sky Islands spire (Ancient Spires).

The Hollow Halls were built around them. Keen's Hollow Halls highlights of Mar 26, 2024 introduce the dungeons with "exclusive legendary rewards and your hard-won trophies" and a mysterious crafting station with its own recipes. Since Update 8 each Hollow Halls ends in class chests for warrior, ranger and mage opened with Ectoplasm (Keen, Apr 21, 2026), and 1.0 cut their cost by 25%, reworked the Hollow Halls weapons to do well against the Hollow, and opened two more Hollow Halls, in the Albaneve Summits and Veilwater Basin. Bosses and elite enemies drop the legendary runes you need to finish upgrading them.

Lore weapons: the named uniques

Lore weapons are the named weapons tied to Enshrouded's quests and places, and since Update 7 you can craft any you have unlocked again at a higher level. Kristoff names the light-emitting Wailing Blade from the early lore quest line: "you can actually craft a higher-level version" once you have outgrown it, there are "craftable lore weapons for every weapon type supporting all classes and all playstyles", and it helps players "forever unlucky with RNG". Keen's notes say each lore weapon you have unlocked can be crafted at the matching crafting survivor (Keen, Nov 10, 2025); since Nov 25, 2025 lore weapons carry "a unique label for easier identification" (Keen), and 1.0 gave many of them models of their own instead of shared ones (1.0 changelog).

The 1.0 uniques sit in Cinder's Cradle. SverkerBonk's captioned guide of Oct 18, 2026 (no narration) maps them one by one: the Proto Matter-Bender wand is "located in a hidden section beneath Proto Vessel Bay", and the footage follows the player down through a dark Ancient structure to a chest that holds it. The same video puts Darya's Remorse "on a floating rock, just north of Darya's Daycamp", the Spearfisher Bow "deep underwater at the Drak'Dal Camp beneath The Ancient Citadel", and the Breaching Bow as a drop from Hydrak'Dal at the Drak'Dal Camp. Its fifth item is the "Electric Initialiser" wand, which AllThingsHow places in the Kindlewastes.

In 1.0, AllThingsHow counts 34 unique weapons that can be crafted again once found, and says a recipe appears only after you have found the weapon, at an item level that "follows your current Flame level, not the copy you found" (AllThingsHow, Oct 24, 2026). Its list by region, which Keen has not published, is below; Keen's own posts name a few of them, among them the Wailing Blade and the Guard of the North Sword (Keen, Apr 29, 2026).

Springlands Fenrig's Axe, Wailing Blade, Reaper's Wand
Revelwood Hailscourge, Sacrificial Vukah Dagger, Cryptic Wand, Talion's Bow
Nomad Highlands Dragon Sword, Jezmina's Apotheosis, Wolf's Hydra, Soothsayer, Lupa's Scalper
Blackmire Valor Heart Daggers
Kindlewastes Dreadbane, "Electric Initialiser", Shroud Weaver, Draconian Bow
Albaneve Summits Dragonsbane, Greater and Lesser Golden Twinflame Sword, Ancestral Star, Blessed Club, Circus Knives, Darya's Wand, Darya's Staff, Dragon's Wing
Veilwater Basin Golden Recruit Axe, Golden War Hero Axe, Guard of the North Sword
Cinder's Cradle Shroud Vessel's Greatsword, Darya's Remorse, Proto Matter-Bender, Breaching Bow, Spearfisher Bow

The same guide sends the recipes to four crafters: the Blacksmith, the "Hunter" (Keen writes the Huntress), the Alchemist and an "Ancient Researcher". Check a recipe at your survivor rather than trusting any list: Keen changed many weapons' stats in Update 7 to match their names, such as the Ice-Coated Daggers gaining ice damage, and keeps tuning them (Weapon Tier List).

Upgrading a legendary

Upgrades cost runes, and the highest steps on legendary items cost legendary runes, which drop from elite and boss enemies (Keen, May 13, 2025). At 1.0 "Legendary items require legendary runes one upgrade step later now" (1.0 changelog); AllThingsHow reads it as the last two enhancement levels. Since Update 8 the class survivors do the work: the Blacksmith upgrades warrior weapons, the Huntress ranger weapons and the Alchemist mage weapons, "and the same goes for their respective assistants" (Survivors). How many runes you get back when you salvage an upgraded weapon is a world setting (Keen support).

Because rarity only adds headroom, a common weapon you like is not a dead end, but it runs out of upgrade levels sooner than a legendary of the same kind and item level. Salvaging turns unwanted gear back into runes, as Keen's designer Christoph says in the same Update 8 video, so the runes spent on a stopgap weapon are not all lost. Weapons reach level 55 at 1.0 (Weapons).

Weapon gems

Legendary and other high-rarity weapons are where weapon gems go. Keen's Thralls of Twilight highlights of May 13, 2025 introduce 21 gems that give passive bonuses or add effects to attacks, with one catch: "crafting and upgrading these enhancements means braving the Shroud to gather rare materials". Keen's notes say weapons of higher rarity have a chance for a gem slot, which does not apply to weapons found before Update 6, that gems drop from powerful enemies, and that you insert, upgrade, recycle or remove them at Gem Forges deep in the Shroud (Keen, May 13, 2025). 1.0 lets you place a gem forge in your base late in the game and rebalanced several gems (1.0 changelog).

At left a figure in a black wide-brimmed pointed hat and a long dark coat stands before a large round machine of dark metal rings glowing magenta. At right a menu titled Insert Gem lists available weapons, a selected weapon Devilish Bow with an empty gem slot, a new gem Gem of Necromancy, level 34, described as sometimes spawning an allied armored Hollow on a kill, and an insert cost of Archaic Essence, level 33, found in Albaneve Summits Shroud Lairs. A compass bar at the top reads Enshrouded with a 12:00 timer.

Frequently asked questions

How do you get legendary weapons in Enshrouded? In Enshrouded, legendary weapons drop from chests, most often golden and silver chests and their Shroud versions, from enemies carrying weapons, from bosses and from the Hollow Halls; 1.0 added a 5% higher legendary chance to all chests.

Are legendary weapons better in Enshrouded? Not at first. In Enshrouded, rarity does not change a weapon's base stats; a legendary has more upgrade levels and perks, so it ends up stronger once upgraded.

What are lore weapons in Enshrouded? Lore weapons are Enshrouded's named unique weapons, such as the Wailing Blade, unlocked through quests and places; once you have one, you can craft it again at a higher level at the matching survivor.

How do I get legendary runes in Enshrouded? Legendary runes in Enshrouded drop from elite and boss enemies; you need them for the last upgrade steps of legendary items, which since 1.0 begin one step later.

Can you craft legendary weapons in Enshrouded? No. Crafted weapons in Enshrouded are always rare quality; legendaries are found, though lore weapons can be re-crafted at higher item levels.

Do legendary weapons have gem slots in Enshrouded? Higher-rarity weapons in Enshrouded have a chance for a gem slot, and you insert gems at Gem Forges in the Shroud or, late in 1.0, at a forge in your base.
